A Stellar Blade Switch 2 vs PS5 graphics comparison highlights the visual compromises made to bring SHIFT UP’s action game to Nintendo’s hybrid console. While resolution and overall image quality appear to hold up relatively well, several aspects of the rendering pipeline have been reduced.
The comparison shows noticeable differences in shadows, reflections, textures, and level of detail. Shadows appear to use lower-quality settings on Switch 2, with the presentation looking less detailed than even the PS5 Performance Mode in some areas.
Reflections have also been reduced substantially. Water surfaces in particular appear to have lost the reflections present on PS5, while environmental detail is reduced through a lower level of detail setting.
Stellar Blade Switch 2 Visual Differences
The reduced level of detail is visible in the environment, with fewer objects being rendered at greater distances. Foliage and other environmental elements can disappear sooner on Switch 2, including objects that remain visible closer to the player on PS5.
Texture quality has also been reduced across the game. The Switch 2 version uses fewer higher-quality textures, contributing to a softer and less detailed appearance in some areas.
Resolution does not appear to take as significant a hit as some other aspects of the presentation. The Switch 2 version has been reported to target 1080p at 60 FPS in docked mode and 720p at 60 FPS in handheld mode, although the exact internal rendering resolution has not been confirmed.
The 60 FPS target is achieved with frame generation, while the image is also upscaled. The specific upscaling implementation has not been officially confirmed, although the comparison indicates that a DLSS solution may be involved.
Performance does not remain consistently at 60 FPS, however, with frame drops resulting in some uneven frame times during gameplay.
Stellar Blade Complete Edition is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. The digital edition costs $59.99 and is currently available for pre-order, with pre-loading supported ahead of launch.
