Final Fantasy VII Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi says that players won’t be able to experience all of the game’s content in a single playthrough.
During an interview with IGN Japan, Final Fantasy VII Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi talked about the amount of content in the upcoming action role-playing game. He explained that the experience players get during a single playthrough is roughly comparable to that of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. However, Final Fantasy VII Revelation has a significant amount of content that can vary depending on the player’s choices, meaning a single playthrough won’t cover everything the game has to offer. “There are a lot of things that you won’t be able to experience in just one playthrough,” Hamaguchi said. “So, in that sense, you could probably say that overall, it exceeds Rebirth.”
Side content can play out differently based on the party members chosen to engage with side content available throughout Final Fantasy VII Revelation’s open world. Rather than having every player encounter the exact same quests, the game is designed to offer variations based on the choices players make.
That approach also appears to be connected to how many party members Final Fantasy VII Revelation will feature in total. When asked about it, The director refrained from providing a specific number, as it would be too revealing, likely referring to Aerith’s status as a potential playable character. “If I answered how many party members there are, it would reveal quite a few things, so I can’t answer that,” he said.
Hamaguchi then pointed out that Rebirth already features a large number of party members, and that the amount of content has increased accordingly for the upcoming conclusion to the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. “We’re really creating an enormous amount of content this time,” he said.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set for release on April 8, 2026, across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
