Mazda has announced the RX-VISION GT3 Evo for Gran Turismo 7, with the new Gr.3 racing car revealed during the Gran Turismo World Series 2026 Round 2 in Tokyo on August 15.
The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer released at Polyphony Digital’s Tokyo Studio. The RX-VISION GT3 Evo is the next evolution of the RX-VISION GT3 Concept, which has represented Mazda in the Gran Turismo World Series for the past six years.
The original Mazda RX-VISION GT3 Concept first appeared in Gran Turismo Sport in 2020 before being added to Gran Turismo 7 following its launch in 2022.
Ikuo Maeda, Mazda Spirit Racing’s representative and longtime Mazda Design Chief, discussed the development of the new racing car in the announcement video. Maeda was also responsible for launching Mazda’s Kodo design philosophy and creating the original RX-VISION.
“The beauty and presence of the RX-VISION – I absolutely did not want to compromise that. On top of that, I wanted to portray its evolution on the track,” Maeda said.
The RX-VISION GT3 Evo will retain the visual character of the original concept while representing its evolution as a competition machine. Mazda has confirmed that the new car will launch in Gran Turismo 7 later this year.
Developed by Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 7 launched in 2022 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and has continued to receive regular content updates.
The game combines its GT Simulation campaign with the competitive Sport mode and features a large selection of vehicles and tracks, alongside detailed vehicle modelling and physics simulation.
Recent updates have continued expanding the game’s garage with vehicles including the 1991 Mazda RX-7 Type R FD3S, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Race-Mod and the 2021 Renault Captur.
The addition of the Mazda RX-VISION GT3 Evo will give players another new racing machine to add to the Gran Turismo 7 lineup later this year.
