The rumored Modern Warfare 4 will allegedly be the first entry in the Call of Duty series to be on a Nintendo platform in over a decade.
Known insider Nate the Hate took to Reddit to respond to a comment about the rumored Modern Warfare 4 being the first Call of Duty game for the Nintendo Switch 2. In his brief response, he claimed that this will indeed be the case. If proven true, this will make it the first Call of Duty game on a Nintendo platform in over a decade, following the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Wii U on November 5, 2013.
According to the official Call of Duty Twitter/X account, the next entry in the series will only release on current-gen consoles and PC. This, of course, doesn’t rule out the Nintendo Switch 2. The statement confirmed what Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope had claimed last year. The insider also claimed that the game will feature a traditional UI similar to the one seen in older entries, even more so than Black Ops 6. They further mentioned that the Infinity Ward engine is being overhauled to address problems seen in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, such as “visual clutter”. Additionally, they said that there will be no Warzone 3 if Verdansk fails to retain both existing and returning players. Lastly, the most interesting detail shared by the insider was that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is being developed on dev kits for the next Xbox console.
The leaker also said that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature both omnimovement and wall running mechanics, and that developer Infinity Ward will be remastering classic maps from 2011’s original Modern Warfare 3 for the upcoming title alongside brand new original ones. According to them, Infinity Ward is looking to avoid making the same errors it had made with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
