Nintendo could have a much stronger first half of 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2 than currently expected, according to industry insider Nate the Hate. His comments point to several potential releases, including Metroid Ravenous, Wario Land and Luigi’s Mansion 4, alongside announced projects such as Xenoblade Chronicles Genesis and potentially Duskbloods.
Nate discussed the possible schedule while looking ahead to Nintendo’s upcoming Direct, suggesting that the presentation could provide more information about the company’s first half of 2027 plans. He believes Metroid Ravenous could be among the earliest releases, potentially arriving in January or February.
“I think it would be an early 2027 game. Maybe March. I could see it being a March game,” Nate said before later settling on “January or February.” He suggested that releasing a new Metroid game shortly after the holiday period would give recent Switch 2 owners a major first party title to play.
Wario Land And Luigi’s Mansion 4
A new Wario game, referred to as Wario Land in the discussion, could also occupy an early 2027 release window. Nate described the project as a rumored title that could potentially be a 3D platformer.
“Out of like that type of lineup, I would say Wario feels like that first half of 2027 type of release,” Nate said. He also suggested that January or February could make sense depending on Nintendo’s wider schedule.
Luigi’s Mansion 4 is another game Nate expects to see in 2027. He said he does not doubt that the project is real, although he is less certain that Nintendo will reveal it during the upcoming Direct.
“I don’t doubt it’s real though. I think that is coming next year,” Nate said. If the game does appear during the Direct, he expects it to launch during the first half of 2027, specifically between April and June.
Xenoblade And Duskbloods
Xenoblade Chronicles Genesis could also be released during the first half of 2027. Unlike the rumored projects, the game has already been announced, leading Nate to believe it could receive an earlier release.
“That’s true. That’s We know that’s a 2027 game. I would assume it would be an earlier one since they’ve already shown it,” Nate said. He suggested a release around March or April, potentially corresponding with the end of Nintendo’s fiscal year or the beginning of the next one.
Nate also expects Duskbloods to potentially move into 2027. The game had previously been associated with a 2026 window, but Nate believes Nintendo could give the project additional development time, with January or February among the possible windows he discussed.
Taken together, Nate’s proposed Nintendo Switch 2 2027 games lineup includes Metroid Ravenous, Wario Land, Xenoblade Chronicles Genesis, Luigi’s Mansion 4, Duskbloods and Mario Kart World DLC.
No 3D Mario Is Necessary
Nate believes Nintendo could deliver a strong Direct focused largely on games arriving during the first half of 2027 without necessarily revealing its next major 3D Mario game.
“It’s mostly focusing on first half of 2027 releases. No long-term releases unless we want to entertain Smash Bros. getting a teaser trailer and just the announcement of intent to come to Switch 2 eventually.”
Nate ultimately sees 2027 as potentially being the point when Nintendo’s first party support for Switch 2 accelerates significantly.
“Maybe 2027 is that year where they truly take off,” Nate said. He described 2026 as the true launch period for Switch 2 in his view and expects Nintendo to maintain a strong release cadence into the following year.
