The last major firmware update for the Nintendo Switch was a jump to system software 10.0.0. This launched near the release of Animal Crossing New Horizons back in March. Nintendo has now followed it up with a minor firmware update that they claim will offer “general system stability improvements” as per the changelog.

Nintendo is also having a stock shortage related to the production of the Switch hardware due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. They plan to boost production soon in order to meet the increased demand for their hybrid console.
The console has now sold through more than 52 million units worldwide as per the last update sales figure. It should surpass NES in sales by the end of this year.
