Nintendo has released a minor firmware update for Switch. This update has started to roll out worldwide from today. We have fixed the issue where it was not possible in some countries or regions to add funds using a new credit card or to register credit card information in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch.
The main use for this was to avail the opportunity of Switch being a region free console. Sometimes, it is possible to get a game cheaper from a different region, and many users have done this in the past.
This is usually due to the regional price difference that has become a staple of the PC online marketplace. It leads to cheaper game prices, however, it can also prove beneficial for those who want to buy and play a game that is not available in their own region.
