Nintendo Switch Has Sold Though 34.74M Units, Outsells Nintendo 64
Nintendo Switch is on pace to become the second best selling Nintendo hardware. It is behind the Nintendo Wii, NES, and SNES, but it has just passed Nintendo 64 with a cumulative sales figure of 34.74 million units.
Nintendo Switch is also getting a higher attach rate for its software with multiple games selling north of one million units. Most of these are first-party exclusives for the Nintendo Switch proving that it is a hit with the dedicated crowd and fans of the Nintendo platform.
The current sales figure of Nintendo Switch stands at 34.74 million ahead of the Nintendo 64 at 32.93 million. It still has a long way to go before hitting the SNES at 49.10 million and NES at 61.91 million. The best selling Nintendo console was the Nintendo Wii which sold 101.63 million but its successor, Nintendo Wii U, was a big failure and barely sold 13.56 million.
Nintendo has also shared an updated sales figure for all of the first-party exclusives that have been released so far. Here is a list of games that have all sold more than 10 million units on the Nintendo Switch hardware.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (16.69 million)
- Super Mario Odyssey (14.44 million)
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (13.81 million)
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (12.77 million)
- Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu/Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee (10.68 million)
Nintendo CEO has confirmed that they have no plans to announce a new hardware model at E3 2019. This goes against the earlier rumors about multiple hardware revisions. The company has just received official approval to sell its console in the Chinese market which has the potential to help improve the sales of their hardware.
