Nintendo has announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, a new installment in its long-running sports party series, set to launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22.
The upcoming title marks a return to the iconic Wuhu Island, a familiar location for fans of the Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort games. Players will be able to create either a Mii character or a Sportsmate before taking part in a range of motion-controlled activities designed around the Nintendo Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 controllers.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will feature 12 sports in total, combining returning favorites with new additions. Players can compete alone or join friends and family in local and multiplayer matches across activities including Boxing, Table Tennis, Archery, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball, Golf, and Thumb Wrestling.
The game also introduces several leisure-focused activities. Skateboarding makes use of the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, while Power Cruising and Prop Plane add new ways to explore and compete. Players looking for a lighter workout can also participate in Jump Rope warm-up sessions.
Nintendo says the new motion controls will allow players to use the Joy-Con 2 controllers in different ways depending on the activity, including as rackets, bows, and even vehicle handlebars, aiming to deliver a variety of physical interactions across the game’s sports lineup.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22. Digital pre-orders are scheduled to open later today through the Nintendo eShop.
