A new key visual has been released for OD KNOCK, the experimental horror game from Hideo Kojima and Xbox Game Studios. The project remains in development, with neither Kojima Productions nor Xbox confirming a release date or launch window.

Performance capture and production are continuing through late 2026. Development has reportedly been affected by the SAG-AFTRA strikes, alongside Kojima’s work on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

OD KNOCK is described as a project that combines interactive gaming with cinematic storytelling, built around the idea of testing players’ fear thresholds. Kojima is directing the game, which uses Xbox’s cloud computing technology to create what the team describes as a new interactive medium. Filmmaker Jordan Peele is also involved in its creative development.

The cast includes Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer and Udo Kier. Their performances are being captured using advanced facial-capture technology to support the game’s psychological horror elements.

The project was first revealed in June 2022 during Microsoft’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. An internal concept clip leaked later that year under the codename Overdose. Kojima formally announced OD at The Game Awards in December 2023, confirming Peele’s involvement.

Kojima has previously said that Xbox Game Studios was the only publisher willing to finance and support the project’s unconventional, cloud-native concept.
