Additionally, the pre-load for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is expected to go live on the Nintendo eShop a few days prior to launch. It will come with the latest update pre-installed for those who pre-ordered a digital copy of the game, though a day one update may be rolled out closer to launch on March 23, 2024. Meanwhile, those who purchased a physical copy of the game will need to download the day one update.

Furthermore, the download size of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is 5.09 GB, which is relatively modest compared to some of the other titles. That said, those with limited available space on the internal storage are advised to clear up some space in advance. It goes without saying that storage expansion options are available for those who need them.

The original Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, was released for the GameCube. As the second installment in the Paper Mario series, the game follows Mario and Princess Peach as they search for a valuable ancient treasure. However, Peach is kidnapped by a group called the X-Nauts, prompting Mario to embark on a quest to rescue her and retrieve the treasure. The game shares many gameplay elements with its predecessor, including its drawing-based art style and turn-based battle system focused on timing. While primarily controlling Mario, players also get to play as Bowser and Princess Peach at certain points.
