Pearl Abyss Says Crimson Desert Is Running on Nintendo Switch 2 as Development Continues

by Salal Awan

Pearl Abyss has shared a new update on the possibility of bringing Crimson Desert to Nintendo Switch 2, confirming that the game is already running on the platform while development continues.

Speaking about the prospect of expanding the game’s platform availability, CEO Huh Jin-young said the studio wants to release Crimson Desert on as many platforms as possible and is actively reviewing Nintendo’s latest console.

“We believe it is important to showcase Crimson Desert on as many platforms as possible,” Huh said. “We are reviewing the Nintendo Switch 2, and it is currently being developed to a level where basic gameplay is possible.”

Despite that progress, Huh stressed that a Switch 2 release is not guaranteed. He explained that the studio’s priority is ensuring the console can deliver the visual quality, action and open-world experience expected from Crimson Desert, rather than simply producing a direct port.

“The Switch 2 version still requires optimization and technical verification, and we must also review partner collaboration and whether it meets our quality standards,” Huh said. “Therefore, it is difficult to confirm a release schedule. We will announce it transparently once there is confirmed information.”

For now, Pearl Abyss has not announced a release date or officially confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Crimson Desert, with the project remaining under technical evaluation and optimisation.
