PHYSINT Script Runs Over 150 Pages as Kojima Reveals New Details About His Espionage Game

by Ali Haider

Hideo Kojima has begun circulating the PHYSINT script, titled “A New Cold War Begins,” among selected cast members and developers working on his upcoming espionage game. The Japanese version of the document runs over 150 pages, while the English version contains approximately 50,000 words.

The PHYSINT script focuses on three major intelligence disciplines: HUMINT (human intelligence), SIGINT (signals intelligence), and OSINT (open-source intelligence). These areas cover information gathered through human sources, electronic communications, and publicly available materials, respectively.

The document also includes concept art, offering those involved in the project an early look at its creative direction. For now, Kojima has limited its distribution to selected cast members, artists, and a small number of crew members working on the game.

PHYSINT marks Kojima’s return to the action-espionage genre following his work on the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The project is being positioned as a next-generation spiritual successor to his earlier espionage games, with an emphasis on combining cinematic storytelling and interactive gameplay.

Kojima has previously described the project as an attempt to blur the boundaries between video games and cinema, continuing his interest in bringing the two mediums closer together.

Despite the progress on its script, PHYSINT remains in early pre-production. Kojima has indicated that full development and performance capture will accelerate following his recent work on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
