Pokémon UNITE will shut down on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices on March 23, 2027, at 9:00 AM JST, The Pokémon Company has announced. The free-to-play multiplayer game will no longer allow players to log in or participate in battles after its service ends.
The game launched on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021, before arriving on iOS and Android devices on September 22, 2021. Ahead of the closure, the developers will hold special events to give players more opportunities to enjoy the game and obtain previously released items.
Sales of Aeos Gems, the game’s paid currency, have ended as of October 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM JST. New UNITE Club Membership subscriptions and automatic renewals have also been discontinued. Players with active memberships can continue using their benefits until their current subscription periods expire.
A major update scheduled for November 12, 2026, will introduce special events and a new Library feature. The events will give players opportunities to obtain previously released items, including Unite Licenses and Holowear.
The Library is intended to preserve selected player records after the servers close. Players will be able to access information such as battle history, unlocked Unite Licenses and acquired Holowear offline, provided they download the required Library data before service ends on March 23, 2027. Those who miss the download deadline will be unable to use the feature.
The shutdown will also affect players who have purchased Aeos Gems. The developers plan to issue refunds for unused paid Aeos Gems remaining when service ends, with application instructions to be published on the official Pokémon UNITE website after the closure.
Only unused gems purchased with real money will qualify. Free Aeos Gems, including bonus currency from purchases and rewards from UNITE Club Memberships, will not be eligible for refunds. Players must submit refund requests through an in-game application form, and the developers have warned them not to delete the game before the refund process is complete.
Players can check their remaining paid Aeos Gems by selecting the plus icon in the upper-right corner of the home screen and viewing the balance on the Aeos Gem purchase screen.
The previously announced Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will proceed as planned, with qualifying tournaments beginning on December 5, 2026.
