Sony has released PS5 system update 26.07-14.20.00, bringing minor improvements to the console’s interface and usability. The official patch notes offer little detail about the changes, saying only that Sony has improved “the messages and usability on some screens.”

The update’s release comes amid ongoing interest in PS5 security and jailbreak exploits. Recent developments in the PlayStation 5 homebrew scene have focused on vulnerabilities that could allow users to run unauthorised software on consoles running certain firmware versions.

The Relapse WebKit and kernel exploit chain enabled jailbreaking on firmware versions up to 13.60. Sony subsequently released firmware updates 14.00 and 14.10 to address vulnerabilities, with the latter also becoming a requirement for PlayStation Network access.

Developer Gezine has also demonstrated a private, unreleased zero-day exploit that reportedly unlocks debug settings on firmware 14.10. However, the exploit has not been publicly released, and a functional hypervisor bypass for firmware versions in the 14.xx range remains unavailable.
