Sony has announced that Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble will shut down permanently on May 1, 2027, ending development of the mobile multiplayer shooter before it ever receives a worldwide release. The company confirmed the decision on November 6, 2026, following a period of limited regional testing.
Developed by Oh BiBi in collaboration with Sony, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble was first revealed in November 2025. The third-person hero shooter entered soft-launch testing in select regions during 2026, but Sony has now decided to discontinue the project.
According to the shutdown announcement, the game’s final planned update will arrive on the Apple App Store and Google Play on November 6. New players will no longer be able to download the game after November 21, 2026, when it will be removed from both storefronts.
Existing players can continue playing until May 1, 2027, when the servers will be taken offline permanently. The game will no longer load after that date, and players will only be able to reinstall it until the November 21 delisting.
Sony confirmed that all current game modes, matchmaking, and competitive features will remain available until the servers close. Qwark Pass seasons will also continue, while the Super Pass has been made free for everyone, allowing players to earn its content through regular gameplay.
In-app purchases have already been disabled. Players can still earn currency by playing and spend it on character upgrades, cosmetics, additional characters, and other in-game currencies. Any unused currency or unclaimed rewards must be redeemed before the shutdown.
Players seeking refunds for previous purchases will need to check their eligibility through Apple or Google Play, depending on where they originally made the purchase.
The Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble shutdown will also result in the permanent deletion of all player data on May 1. Progress, unlocked items, and other account content cannot be transferred to another game. Anyone who wants their data removed earlier can contact the game’s support team.
Players who pre-registered for Ranger Rumble will receive their promised rewards through their in-game inbox after logging into the final update.
Sony said the decision won’t affect any other Ratchet & Clank titles or PlayStation services. The series was created by Insomniac Games in 2002, with its most recent mainline entry, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, launching on PS5 in 2021 before arriving on PC in 2023.
