The Blood of Dawnwalker developer Rebel Wolves is already working on a sequel to the recently released action role-playing game.
In his recent LinkedIn post, The Blood of Dawnwalker Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek announced that developer Rebel Wolves is looking for a Lead Writer to join its narrative team to work on “the next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga,” indicating that work on a sequel has already begun. He also highlighted the game’s early commercial performance, stating that it “released to critical acclaim and sold over one million copies in the opening weekend.”
The Lead Writer will work under Szamałek and take on both creative and managerial responsibilities. According to the job listing, the position involves managing and supporting the writers’ team, reviewing story pitches and outlines, crafting stories and dialogue, and writing cutscene, CGI and in-game document scripts. The successful candidate will also be expected to help maintain and expand the lore of Rebel Wolves’ original IP while collaborating with other team leads, voice-over artists and directors, as well as the studio’s marketing, public relations and localization teams.
Rebel Wolves is seeking an experienced writer with at least six years of experience in the game industry, along with a strong record of achievement, exceptional writing skills and experience managing a team. Candidates are also expected to be comfortable creating interactive, non-linear stories and adapting narratives to gameplay and technical limitations. The position can be based at Rebel Wolves’ Warsaw office or undertaken remotely. The studio has listed familiarity with Central and Eastern European history and folklore as a nice to have, hinting at the kind of cultural knowledge it values for its newly established dark fantasy universe.
For the uninitiated, The Blood of Dawnwalker was conceived by some of the developers behind The Witcher 3, who left CD Projekt Red to form Rebel Wolves. In our review, we highlighted the game’s compelling writing, meaningful day night mechanics, and versatile combat.
