Resident Evil 7 is now one of the best-selling games in the series after the latest sales update shared by Capcom. It has now sold more than 8 million copies.
Resident Evil 7 was one of the first games in the series to launch on the current-generation consoles and it has ended up being one of the best-selling games in the series. Capcom has now shared an updated sales figure for the game giving us an overview of the million-sellers that were published by Capcom.
In the list, Monster Hunter World has topped the charts with an estimated 16.4 million sales. It is followed by Resident Evil VII at 8.3 million and Resident Evil 6 at 7.6 million. Resident Evil 2 is just behind it with 7.5 million sales even though it launched back in January 2019.
We had already reported the sales number for Resident Evil 3, which hit three million copies sold. The game has sold another 300K copy from July to September thanks in part to multiple sales promotions. The same is true for the other games in the series, all of which have managed to increase their baseline sales figure.
Another interesting result is for Street Fighter V. The total sales of the game have now surpassed 5 million copies across PC and PS4.
The popularity of Resident Evil VII appears to link to the PSVR. It is still the only game in the series to offer VR support. Capcom hasn’t shared any plans to offer VR support for the upcoming Resident Evil 8, also known as Resident Evil Village. They are planning to release it in 2021 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, however, they are also looking into bringing it to PS4 and Xbox One.
