Simu Liu has hinted that the long-awaited Sleeping Dogs movie could finally have some positive news on the horizon.
Responding to a fan on X who wrote, “Replaying an all time favourite @SimuLiu please do this game justice,” Liu replied, “hope to post some really positive updates soon. stay tuned.”
The Sleeping Dogs movie has been in development for several years. The live-action adaptation was originally planned with Donnie Yen attached before Liu later joined the project as both its producer and star.
Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the film is set to adapt the story of Wei Shen, an undercover Hong Kong-American police officer who infiltrates the Sun On Yee triad. The project aims to bring the game’s martial arts combat and action sequences to the big screen.
Liu’s latest comment does not reveal any specific details, but it suggests there may be an official update on the movie in the near future.
