Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition Out Now on Nintendo Switch 2

Sega has officially released Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, making the enhanced version of the 2022 open-zone adventure available both digitally and physically.

The release was announced as a surprise launch during Sonic’s birthday celebrations. Priced at $49.99, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition includes the base game along with all major post-launch content released for Sonic Frontiers.

According to Sega, the Definitive Edition features improved graphics and performance on Nintendo Switch 2, allowing players to explore the Starfall Islands with visual and technical enhancements over previous versions.

The package includes the full Sonic Frontiers game, “The Final Horizon” story campaign, and the “Sights, Sounds, and Speed” and “Sonic’s Birthday Bash” content updates. Players also receive several bonus in-game items, including the Explorer’s Treasure Box, the “Monster Hunter” Collaboration Pack, “Sonic Adventure 2” Shoes, and the Holiday Cheer Suit.

In addition to the gameplay content, the release comes with a digital art book and a mini soundtrack.

Sonic Frontiers sees Sonic stranded on the mysterious Starfall Islands while searching for the Chaos Emeralds. Players explore large open zones, battle powerful enemies, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover the secrets of the islands while rescuing Sonic’s friends.

The Nintendo eShop listing confirms that Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition requires 26.5 GB of storage space on Nintendo Switch 2.
