Sponge Break Launches July 30 on PC for $7.99

by Greg Martin

Goose Byte Games and Balor Games have confirmed the Sponge Break launch date, with the co-op rafting game arriving on PC via Steam on July 30, 2026. The game will be priced at $7.99, and players still have a limited time to try it before release through the official playtest, which runs until July 28.

In Sponge Break, players control animated sponges attempting to escape the kitchen sink by travelling down a dangerous river on a fragile homemade raft. The game supports solo play or co-op with up to 4 players, with teams relying on cooperation and proximity chat to survive the journey.

Each player is equipped with a plunger hook to help steer the raft and overcome obstacles along the way. Working together is essential as players use physics-based mechanics and consumable items to solve environmental puzzles, avoid hazards, and fend off wildlife while trying to keep their raft intact. One rule remains constant throughout the adventure: avoid getting wet.

The announcement follows a strong early response to the game since its reveal earlier this month. According to Goose Byte Games and Balor Games, Sponge Break has generated more than 26 million views across streaming and social media platforms, while the ongoing playtest has recorded more than 500,000 minutes of gameplay.

Players interested in trying Sponge Break before its full release can still join the official playtest on Steam until July 28, ahead of the game’s PC launch on July 30.
