Spike Chunsoft has unveiled the Digital Deluxe Edition for STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT while also sharing new information about STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space, a retro-inspired companion title coming to modern platforms for the first time.
The Digital Deluxe Edition will be available for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Steam. It includes the base game, a digital visual book, a digital soundtrack, and footage from the “STEINS;GATE 15th LIVE – ONE WORLD -” concert with English subtitles.
The publisher also provided a closer look at STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space, a modern release of the adventure game originally launched for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 in 2011. This marks the first time the title will be available on consoles as well as Steam.
Designed as a tribute to Japanese PC adventure games of the 1980s, STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space recreates the look and feel of classic 8-bit computer titles. Players step into the role of Rintaro Okabe as he searches the streets of Akihabara alongside the Future Gadget Laboratory members for the missing IBN 5100.
Unlike modern visual novels that rely on branching dialogue choices, the game uses a text parser system. Players advance the story by typing English commands, encouraging experimentation and puzzle-solving to uncover the correct actions needed to progress. The game supports both software keyboards and USB keyboards across supported platforms.
The presentation also aims to recreate the experience of playing on vintage computers. Graphics are drawn line by line before being filled with colour, replicating the screen-drawing process found in early adventure games. Players who prefer a faster experience can skip the drawing animation with a button press.
Several graphics display modes are included, allowing players to switch between different visual styles inspired by 1980s PC hardware, ranging from 8-colour RGB displays to green monochrome monitors. The audio has also been recreated to match classic FM synthesis and PSG sound chips, with music composed by series composer Takeshi Abo.
Spike Chunsoft said details on how players will be able to obtain STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Steam will be announced at a later date.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is a remake of the original STEINS;GATE, first released for Xbox 360 in 2009. The new version features completely overhauled visuals alongside new story content and is being developed by MAGES.
The game launches on August 20, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and Steam, followed by releases for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 in North America and Europe on October 29, 2026.
