WayForward has officially confirmed that a new Shantae game is in development, giving fans their first look at the project with a teaser image revealed during Anime Expo.
The announcement was made on the studio’s Bluesky account alongside a piece of promotional artwork teasing the next entry in the long-running platforming series.
“Enjoy this brand-new teaser image revealed at Anime Expo for the next Shantae game, currently in development!” WayForward said.
The studio did not reveal a title, release window or target platforms, and no gameplay details were shared alongside the artwork.
The upcoming project will mark the latest entry in the Shantae franchise, which follows the adventures of the half-genie hero as she battles enemies using her signature hair-whip attacks and magical transformation abilities. The series has become known for its blend of side-scrolling platforming, Metroidvania-inspired exploration and colourful hand-crafted visuals.
More information about the new Shantae game is expected to be announced at a later date.
