Stellar Blade Rated for Nintendo Switch 2, Release Date Announcement May Be Near

Stellar Blade Switch 2 appears to be moving closer to release after the game received an ESRB rating for Nintendo’s latest console.

The newly published rating lists Nintendo Switch 2 as a supported platform, indicating that the port has reached another milestone ahead of launch. While developer Shift Up hasn’t announced a release date, ESRB ratings typically appear relatively close to a game’s release or a major marketing update.

The ESRB assigned Stellar Blade an M for Mature 17+ rating for Blood and Gore, Language, Suggestive Themes and Violence. According to the rating summary, players control a super soldier battling an alien invasion through fast-paced third-person combat using swords, firearms and laser weapons.

The board also notes that combat features blood-splatter effects, dismemberment and close-up depictions of impalement, decapitation and other violent attacks. It further mentions that some female characters wear revealing outfits and confirms the appearance of strong language, including the word “sh*t.”

Originally released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in April 2024, Stellar Blade later launched on PC in June 2025. The action RPG follows Eve as she fights to reclaim a post-apocalyptic Earth from the alien Naytibas, with gameplay centred around precise parries, dodges and fast-paced melee combat.
