Saber Interactive has officially revived the Stuntman franchise with the announcement of Stuntman: Hollywood, a new action-racing game inspired by some of Universal’s most recognizable film and television properties. The title was revealed during Sony’s State of Play showcase and is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Developed in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, the game places players in the role of an aspiring stunt performer tasked with executing increasingly elaborate driving sequences inspired by blockbuster movies and television shows. Saber says the project aims to modernize the classic Stuntman formula while retaining the high-risk, precision-based gameplay that made the original series memorable.
The game’s campaign will feature stunt sequences based on a number of well-known Universal Pictures and NBCUniversal franchises. Confirmed properties include Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and Death Race, with players recreating dramatic vehicle chases, dangerous jumps, and cinematic set pieces drawn from those worlds.
According to Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits, reviving the franchise has been a longtime goal. The developer describes Stuntman as a classic gaming property that lends itself naturally to a modern reimagining built around today’s technology and larger-scale action sequences.
Progression in Stuntman: Hollywood revolves around building a reputation within the entertainment industry. Players will be required to chain together drifts, jumps, near-misses, and other precision maneuvers while navigating increasingly complex stunt scenarios. Successfully completing challenges unlocks additional vehicles, new assignments, and larger productions.
One of the game’s major attractions will be its lineup of iconic vehicles. Saber has confirmed that players will be able to drive K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider and the famous Time Machine from Back to the Future. The roster will also include a variety of supercars, muscle cars, and motorcycles designed to test players’ driving skills across a wide range of stunt challenges.
While Saber did not announce a release date, the publisher confirmed that Stuntman: Hollywood is available to wishlist now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. More details regarding gameplay, additional licensed properties, and launch plans are expected to be revealed in the future.
