Subnautica 2 Early Access Hotfix 1 Fixes Crashes and Analytics Issues

Unknown Worlds Entertainment has released the first hotfix for Subnautica 2 following the game’s early access launch. The update mainly focuses on crash fixes, analytics adjustments, and backend improvements based on community feedback received during the first few days after release.

The hotfix also improves guidance for players encountering startup issues tied to AMD graphics cards and DirectX 12. In addition, the developers confirmed that further Terms of Service adjustments and an FAQ update are planned for the near future.

Fixes and Improvements

  • Updated the crash-on-startup error popup for AMD graphics card and DirectX 12 issues with additional guidance and support information
  • Fixed an infrequent crash related to the Ping feature
  • Analytics are now enabled only after accepting the Terms of Service
  • Reduced the amount of data being sent to backend services
  • Confirmed that analytics can still be disabled manually through the settings menu
  • Additional Terms of Service adjustments and FAQ updates are currently in development

Platform Availability

  • Hotfix is currently rolling out globally
  • Xbox version will become available after certification is completed

Subnautica 2 entered early access on May 14, 2026, for PC and Xbox Series X/S, including a day-one release through Xbox Game Pass. Developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, the survival adventure game introduces cooperative multiplayer for the first time in the franchise while continuing its focus on underwater exploration, crafting, and alien ocean survival.
