Tekken 8 Reveals Kunimitsu Gameplay Trailer, Final Season Pass Character Set for Combo Break 2026

Bandai Namco used Evo Japan 2026 as a stage to reveal a new gameplay trailer for Kunimitsu in Tekken 8, arriving alongside the conclusion of the tournament where iKari secured the championship title. The showcase offered a closer look at one of the franchise’s returning fighters, confirming her place in the game’s ongoing content roadmap.

Kunimitsu, often referred to as The Phantom Thief, is a long-standing character in the Tekken series. Originally introduced as a rival to Michelle Chang and a member of Yoshimitsu’s Manji Clan, the character has evolved over time. While the original Kunimitsu has not appeared in the main storyline since Tekken 2, her daughter stepped into the role in Tekken 7. Both iterations share a fighting style rooted in Manji Ninjutsu, built around speed, misdirection, and agile movement. Her design remains recognizable, with the fox mask and emphasis on quick, evasive attacks shaping her identity in combat.

The character’s return is part of Tekken 8 Season Pass 3, which continues to expand the roster with a mix of familiar names and additional content. The pass offers four playable characters, with Kunimitsu set for early access release on May 28 and a wider release on June 2. Other additions include Bob and Roger Jr., both set to arrive later in the year. Alongside the fighters, players will receive a new battle stage and the Aurora Outfit Pack, which introduces 44 cosmetic designs. Early access of five days will be granted for each DLC character to those who purchase the pass.

Tekken 8 itself builds on the series with technical upgrades and gameplay changes powered by Unreal Engine 5. The introduction of the Heat System shifts combat toward a more aggressive style, offering temporary buffs and unique moves within each round. The story continues to focus on the conflict between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, while additional features such as Special Style controls and Arcade Quest aim to balance accessibility with the depth expected by long-time players.
