The Blood of Dawnwalker Launches September 3

by Greg Martin

Rebel Wolves has confirmed that its upcoming dark fantasy action RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, will release on September 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement arrived alongside a substantial showcase during the studio’s Road to Launch event, where new gameplay footage, story details, and pre-order information were revealed. Pre-orders are now open across digital storefronts and major retailers.

The presentation offered a closer look at the game’s narrative, introducing several characters tied to protagonist Coen’s journey. Some will act as allies, others as adversaries, but each plays a meaningful role in shaping the story. The footage also highlighted Vale Sangora, a fictional region set within the Carpathian Mountains, giving a broader sense of the game’s world and the environments players will explore.

More than 10 minutes of gameplay from a recent PC build were shown, with a clear emphasis on exploration and narrative-driven activities. According to the developers, exploration can lead to new abilities, hidden discoveries, and unexpected encounters that may shift the course of the story. The system is designed around player choice, with actions directly influencing the balance of power within the valley, reinforcing a central theme that decisions carry lasting consequences.

Members of the development team, including writer Piotr Kucharski, lead gameplay animator Daria Bury-Zawada, senior level designer Maciej Wiśniewski, and producer Dorota Rutkowska, appeared throughout the presentation to explain key mechanics and design philosophies. The studio also shared a behind-the-scenes feature focusing on motion capture work, featuring former UFC champion Jan Błachowicz. He contributed to the performance of Bakir, one of the game’s vampire antagonists, with an emphasis on making combat movements feel grounded and impactful.

In addition to the gameplay reveal, Rebel Wolves outlined the different editions available at launch. Alongside the standard digital and Day One editions, an Eclipse Edition will include extra digital content such as a world compendium, soundtrack, and a comic book. A limited Collector’s Edition is also planned.

The event concluded with a preview of the game’s music, including a track titled Uphill Battle, accompanied by a video showcasing the musicians behind the soundtrack.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is the debut project from Rebel Wolves and is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, with publishing handled by Bandai Namco Entertainment America. Set in a war-torn version of fourteenth-century Europe, the game follows Coen, a man transformed into a Dawnwalker, a being caught between human and vampire. His journey centers on saving his family from a powerful vampire lord, navigating a world shaped by conflict, disease, and shifting allegiances where each decision influences both story and gameplay.
