The PC version of Nexon and Neople’s 2025 action role-playing game, The First Berserker: Khazan, has allegedly been updated with the latest iteration of Denuvo after getting cracked.
Reddit user EssenseOfMagic has claimed that the PC version of The First Berserker: Khazan has received an updated version of the Denuvo anti-tamper technology shortly after the game was cracked. They also pointed out that publisher Nexon filed a false copyright claim against a Reddit post by the release group voices38. The release announcement post was subsequently removed by by Reddit’s Legal Operations team.
The Reddit user described the alleged copyright claim as a reaction to the game’s crack, stating that Nexon was attempting to limit the spread of the news. They also claimed that the latest PC update was presented as a stability patch but “changed nothing other than changing the Denuvo version.”
Nexon has made no official statement regarding either the alleged copyright claim or the reported Denuvo update. The patch notes released by the publisher state that the July 28, 2026, update for The First Berserker: Khazan makes changes related to stability improements. “System improvements and security updates have been applied to maintain the quality of our game service,” state the patch notes. No mention is made of Denuvo, anti-tamper technology, or any DRM-related changes.
SteamDB’s file history for The First Berserker: Khazan shows that several files were modified as part of the update, among which is the game’s primary executable. While executable changes can involve DRM or anti-tamper software updates, they can also be the result of bug fixes, security enhancements, optimization work, or other internal code changes. As such, this alone doesn’t confirm whether Denuvo was indeed updated. That said, the timing of the update is noteworthy, as it follows the crack release announcement. It’s also worth noting that no such update was rolled out for the game‘s console versions.
