Review embargo details regarding The Last of Us Part 1 are now available. Fans can expect to see reviews by the end of August.
The Last of Us Part 1 has already received plenty of criticism prior to its release. Some find its $69.99 price tag to be unjustified, especially due to the absence of the original’s multiplayer mode, while others aren’t impressed by the leap in graphical quality and find its labeling as a ‘remake’ a little far-fetched. As such, it’ll be interesting to see how the game fares with the press at large, come the end of the month.
The review embargo for The Last of Us Part 1 will be lifted on Thursday, August 31, 2022, at 8AM Pacific Time (PT) / 11AM Eastern Time (ET) / 5PM Central European Time.
Previously, brand new gameplay footage from The Last of Us Part 1 remake had leaked ahead of release, along with a detailed look at the improvements made to the workbench. The leaked footage featured also revealed the DualSense controller layout. The leaked gameplay shows Joel and Ellie in action against a group of hunters. Based on the combat gameplay footage and the controller layout, the game’s controls appear to have remained largely the same on the PS5’s DualSense controller.
In addition, the target frame rate, resolution, and gameplay improvements for the PS5 remake of The Last of Us Part 1 were also leaked via an unknown source. Based on those details, The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5 will give players the option to choose between 4 different graphical profiles. One of these settings will favor a higher resolution at a lower refresh rate, while another one will make compromises on resolution in order to deliver a higher frame rate. The Last of Us Part 1 is set to hit store shelves on September 2, 2022, while a PC version is also said to be in development and will arrive at a later date.
