Naughty Dog has updated the official website of The Last of Us Part 2 and shared new screenshots from the game. These screenshots reveal more of Joel.
The Last of Us Part 2 has been delayed from its May 29 release date to an unknown new date. Sony has delayed the game keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic that is spreading throughout the world. This is not the only game that has been delayed as other games expected to arrive in May were also impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most anticipated games of this year. It continues the story from the ending of the first game and makes Ellie the lead protagonist. Fans were hoping to see Joel return and he has been briefly teased in the release date trailer. Today, a new set of screenshots were posted to the official website that gives a closer look at Joel.
The game was originally set to launch in February but was later delayed to May 29. It has been delayed further and currently there is no confirmed release date for it aside from Sony saying that the development was near the end, and they had to delay it due to logistical reasons with the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on the delay, Naughty Dog assured fans that they are done with the development of the game. “The good news is, we are nearly done with the development of The Last of Us Part II, ” said Naughty Dog in a message shared through their social media account. “We are in the midst of fixing our final bugs.”
“However, even with us finishing the game, we were faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn’t launch The Last of Us Part II to our satisfaction. We want to make sure everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part II around the same time, ensuring that we’re doing everything possible to preserve the best experience for everyone. This meant delaying the game until such a time where we can solve these logistic issues.”
