SEGA has filed a trademark for Virtua Fighter Crossroads. This name recently surfaced in online leaks, allegedly hinting at the title of the next mainline entry in the long-running fighting game franchise.
The trademark can be found on the registration website, confirming the name Virtua Fighter Crossroads, which appeared in recent leaks. Previous reports indicated that the next installment of the Virtua Fighter series would use the Crossroads subtitle. These claims gained credibility after a leaked gameplay clip circulated online and was shared within the Virtua Fighter community. The footage reportedly provided an early glimpse of the game’s visual presentation and combat mechanics.
The project is being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the team behind the Like a Dragon series. SEGA first announced the New Virtua Fighter Project as part of its effort to revive the franchise after nearly two decades without a brand-new mainline installment.
Previous information released by the publisher indicated that the new entry would place greater emphasis on accessibility while preserving the series’ reputation for realistic martial arts combat. The game is also expected to feature a dedicated story mode, visible battle damage, and a streamlined three-button control scheme designed to make the experience more approachable for newcomers.
Although the trademark filing adds weight to the recent leak, SEGA has yet to officially unveil the game’s final title. Until the company makes a formal announcement, Virtua Fighter Crossroads should still be considered unconfirmed despite the newly discovered trademark registration.
