Microsoft is investigating a widespread Xbox Live outage that is preventing some players from signing in, accessing their game libraries, launching digital games and using the Microsoft Store.
The company acknowledged the issue through the official Xbox Support account on X, stating, “We are aware that some users are encountering errors when attempting to sign in, see your game library, or launch games. Our engineers are actively working to mitigate the issue.”
The issue began at around 11:30 PM ET on July 26, with reports increasing overnight. As of the latest update, the official Xbox Live Status page lists major outages affecting Account, Store and Apps services.
Players across social media and the r/xbox subreddit have reported being unable to access digital purchases, view their game libraries, launch games or make purchases through the Microsoft Store. Some users also reported issues with multiplayer services.
A number of players expressed frustration that the outage prevented access to digitally owned single-player games, highlighting ongoing concerns around digital licensing and online authentication requirements.
Some community members have reported a temporary workaround by using the Xbox mobile app to start game downloads or launches remotely instead of accessing them through the console dashboard. Microsoft has not confirmed this as an official solution, and results appear to vary.
Microsoft said its engineers are continuing to work on restoring affected services and advised players to monitor the Xbox Support account and the official Xbox Live Status page for further updates.
