Microsoft has announced the Xbox Nano Controller, a compact wireless controller priced at $49.99, with pre-orders opening on October 14. The controller will begin rolling out in November across multiple markets, including the United States and United Kingdom, offering a smaller option for younger players, smaller hands and gaming on the go.
Measuring slightly over 5 inches in length and weighing just 3.5 ounces, the Xbox Nano Controller is Microsoft’s smallest controller to date. Despite its compact dimensions, it retains all 18 standard gameplay inputs, providing a familiar layout in a more portable form.
The controller includes a rechargeable battery, Xbox Wireless connectivity and Bluetooth support for use with compatible devices. It also features a programmable Action Button that players can customise for shortcuts such as taking screenshots and capturing gameplay.
Microsoft highlighted local and online multiplayer as potential uses for the controller, pointing to Minecraft Dungeons II, which supports up to four heroes playing together. Its compact design is also intended to make it easier to carry while travelling or visiting friends and family.
Pre-orders are available through the official Xbox Nano Controller website for $49.99. The November rollout will cover markets across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan and Germany. Microsoft says additional markets will follow, with pricing and availability varying by country.
The announcement also includes two promotional partnerships for the US market. Microsoft is working with Samsung to offer the Xbox Nano Controller alongside two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new members purchasing select Samsung TVs during the holiday season. Players in supported regions can use the Xbox app through Samsung TVs’ built-in Gaming Hub to access cloud gaming by connecting a compatible controller.
A separate holiday promotion with Meta will bundle the Xbox Nano Controller and a two-month Game Pass Ultimate subscription for new members purchasing a Meta Quest headset in the US.
