Yomawari: The Long Night Collection and Yomawari: Lost in the Dark are coming to PlayStation 5 on November 5, 2026. The release will bring two Yomawari titles to Sony’s current-generation console, including a collection featuring the first two games and the standalone Lost in the Dark.
Yomawari: The Long Night Collection combines Yomawari: Night Alone and Yomawari: Midnight Shadows. Both games explore a rural Japanese town filled with spirits inspired by local urban legends, with players required to investigate mysteries while avoiding the creatures that inhabit the darkness.
In Yomawari: Night Alone, a young girl searches for her missing sister, while Yomawari: Midnight Shadows follows schoolgirls Yui and Haru as they confront supernatural threats. Players can find hidden items throughout the games, adding them to their collection and using them to interact with spirits or trigger new story events.
Survival relies heavily on stealth. Players can sneak past spirits, run away from them, hide in bushes, or use items to distract them. Some creatures can move quickly, however, making encounters particularly dangerous.
Yomawari: Lost in the Dark follows a young girl who has been cursed and must explore the streets of her town at night to recover her lost memories. She must contend with hostile ghosts while searching for a way to break the curse, using running, hiding, and other methods to survive.
The game introduces several new features to the series. Players can customize the protagonist’s appearance by changing her hairstyle, hair color, clothing, and accessories. The game also uses a flashlight to reveal secrets and specters, while the character’s heartbeat can provide an indication that a ghost is nearby.
Lost in the Dark also adds a mechanic that allows the protagonist to close her eyes to avoid the gaze of certain spirits. The game combines this mechanic with shadowy environments and atmospheric sound design to create its horror encounters.
Both Yomawari: The Long Night Collection and Yomawari: Lost in the Dark will launch on PlayStation 5 on November 5, 2026.
