Nintendo had announced a major update for AC New Horizons that would have added two NPCs. One of these was Leif, who was returning as a new character in this game. Animal Crossing New Horizons Update 1.2.0 Patch Notes

  • General updates
    • The following visiting merchants can now visit the island.
      • Leif (gardening shop)
      • Redd (Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler)
    • Added seasonal events.
    • Addressed issues to further ensure an enjoyable gaming experience.

Of course, the update doesn’t seem to focus on new content only, as it also prepares the game for any upcoming seasonal events including Earth Day and so on. Nintendo had a major Easter Egg event in early April and they are likely going to follow it up with more themed events. If you don’t have AC New Horizons, there is still time to jump in and enjoy these live events before they are gone forever.

Some of the hidden tweaks that are implemented in this update include a decrease in the interest rate in Animal Crossing New Horizons. There is currently no way to determine how much it has reduced but the changes to appear to apply after this update was released today.

AC New Horizons is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. The game launched on March 20 and has been a major success for Nintendo.
