Days Gone is a success for Sony even if the reviews for it are less than stellar. The game was on sale in April for just five days but it managed to outsell Mortal Kombat 11, which was available on shelves three days longer as it launched on April 23.
Mortal Kombat 11 wasn’t far behind Days Gone when it comes to sales in the UK but it didn’t manage to dethrone it from the top position. The sales for the game declined by 43.6 percent compared to its predecessor, but this could be likely offset by the digital sales which are only increasing every year.

Days Gone was also down 38.8 percent from the launch week sales of Horizon Zero Dawn, which is another new IP that released on the PS4 this generation. Again, the rise of digital could mean that this decline is much lower than shown here. Horizon Zero Dawn was an open world action RPG from Guerrilla Games that went on to become the fastest selling new IP from Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice were released in March and both faced a decline in sales during April, as reported by MCV. They still charted in the Top 10 sales for the month of April 2019 in the UK. The three new releases in the Top 10 software were Days Gone, Mortal Kombat 11, and World War Z at number nine position.
