Square Enix has some new screenshots for Final Fantasy VIII Remastered today. This one allows us to have a closer look at the difference between both games.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be out on September 3rd. It was confirmed for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game will be available to purchase for $19.99. Square Enix dropped a new trailer to celebrate this announcement.

As for how exactly is this new remaster different than the original release, it is not just a visual upgrade but Square Enix has reportedly reworked everything to release this on modern platforms. They had lost the source code for the original Final Fantasy so there is a lot more effort in this remaster.
Comparison images of the newly released screenshots with the original game show how much of an upgrade has been made for this remaster. Character models are also retouched making them look closer to their original artwork.
ESRB had rated Final Fantasy VIII Remastered the last month which sparked the rumors about a release date for the game. It was confirmed today at Gamescom where the launch date was listed along with the price and platforms. It was first revealed at E3 2019 during Square Enix’s press conference.
