The Last of Us Part 2 Is Now a Flawless 60 FPS Experience On PS5

The Last of Us Part 2 has been updated to add support for 60 FPS on the PS5. This leads to the game running flawlessly at 60 FPS while still looking great.

The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the recent games from PlayStation Studios that has finally been updated to add support for 60 FPS on the PS5. In the past, this was done with games like Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima. Others like God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man have also been patched to run at a higher frame rate.

The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most high-profile releases in recent times and it is also the winner of more than 300 game of the year awards. Despite the game releasing back in June, there was no update for it that enabled 60 FPS support. This has changed with the new patch that is out now. The technical analysis from our friends at VG Tech covers it or you can have a look at our gameplay video.

The frame rate test confirms that aside from a specific instance with Abby, there are no major sections that drop the frame rate in the game below the 60 FPS target. This is quite impressive considering how great the game looks running at the 4K resolution. Sadly, the resolution doesn’t get an update here with the game running at 1440p resolution just like the PS4 Pro.

There doesn’t appear to be any additional visual changes with this update so those who were hoping to see some new effects like ray-tracing will be left disappointed. Aside from that, there is not much to add here.
