A pair of Australian retail listings may have hinted at a potential release window for Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts IV.
Retailers JB Hi-Fi and EB Games recently updated their descriptions for Kingdom Hearts collections, including a line that appears to reference the next mainline entry in the series. According to the product descriptions, players can “Play through the full KINGDOM HEARTS series in one comprehensive package before the release of KINGDOM HEARTS IV in 2027”.
The mention has quickly attracted attention among fans, as Square Enix has yet to announce an official release date for Kingdom Hearts IV. At the time of writing, the company has not commented on the retailer descriptions, meaning the information should be treated as unconfirmed.
Kingdom Hearts IV was first revealed in 2022 and serves as the beginning of the franchise’s new “Lost Master” story arc. The game follows series protagonist Sora after he becomes stranded in Quadratum, a realistic urban setting inspired by Tokyo. Meanwhile, Donald Duck and Goofy continue their search for a way to bring him back.
During the June 2026 Nintendo Direct presentation, Square Enix confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV will launch simultaneously across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While the company has not provided a release window, the references found on JB Hi-Fi and EB Games listings have led to speculation that a 2027 launch may be planned.
Until Square Enix makes an official announcement, however, the reported 2027 release timeframe remains a rumor.
