The full launch roster for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has been revealed, with Ozai, Avatar Aang and Nightmare Korra confirmed as the final playable characters joining the 1v1 fighter ahead of its release this week.
The announcement was made during a livestream hosted by content creator Maximilian Dood, which also included an extended first look at Zaheer in action. The Red Lotus leader is the latest fighter to receive a gameplay showcase before launch.
Zaheer joins the roster as a highly mobile combatant inspired by his philosophy of rejecting authority and borders. According to the developers, his fighting style reflects the character’s mastery of airbending and relentless pursuit of freedom.
The final three additions complete the game’s 12-character launch roster. Ozai enters the game as the self-proclaimed Phoenix King, bringing his ruthless firebending abilities to the battlefield. Avatar Aang represents the fully realised Avatar, combining his light-hearted personality with the devastating power of the Avatar State.
The final newcomer, Nightmare Korra, offers a darker interpretation of the Avatar from The Legend of Korra. Depicted as the embodiment of Korra’s trauma and inner struggles, the character serves as a unique addition to the roster.
Alongside the character reveal, the development team has also released a new developer diary exploring the creation of the game’s roster. Gameplay Group International founder and chief creative officer Victor Lugo, Paramount Games creative executive Dominick Cuccurullo and Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creator Michael DiMartino discuss how the team balanced faithful character representation with competitive gameplay.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game launches on July 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The fast-paced fighting game brings together characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, allowing players to compete in one-on-one martial arts battles with a roster of fan-favourite heroes and villains.
