A new Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 update has been added to the PlayStation database, with version 01.007.000 now listed for the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. The update was spotted by the PlayStation database tracker PlayStationGameSize, although official patch notes have not yet been released.
The database listing comes shortly after Call of Duty developers confirmed backend changes for Black Ops 2 intended to improve match security and address accounts displaying incorrect Prestige levels.
Black Ops 2 Receives Backend Security Changes
Call of Duty Updates previously confirmed that backend updates had been released for Black Ops 2 on PS4 and PS5. The changes are part of an ongoing review of accounts with incorrect Prestige levels.
The developers warned that some players could temporarily see an account ban notice after being removed from a match or session while the systems update account information. According to the developers, this does not necessarily mean enforcement has been applied.
Players who can reconnect after receiving the message have successfully had their account data processed and do not need to take further action. However, players who cannot reconnect may have been identified for enforcement based on evidence of intentionally obtaining unauthorised Prestige levels or other violations of the Terms of Service, including account manipulation.
It remains unclear whether update 01.007.000 contains changes related to these backend security measures or introduces additional fixes. The patch notes for the new update are currently unavailable.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and the original Black Ops were released digitally for PS4 and PS5 on July 9, 2026. The ports have reportedly been commercially successful, but players have also reported technical and online issues.
