Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that a second Hogwarts Legacy game is in development, with the upcoming sequel mentioned as part of the company’s future games pipeline in a letter to shareholders.
The confirmation came as Warner Bros. discussed its Games business and its strategy of focusing investment on fewer, higher-conviction titles built around four key franchises worth more than $1 billion each. The company highlighted the successful launch of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight before confirming that its pipeline includes “the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy.”
“Games remains an important growth lever as we work toward our long-term Studios segment goals,” Warner Bros. said in its shareholder letter. The company also described LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight as the “highest rated LEGO game ever” and noted the launch of Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, its second mobile game based on the Game of Thrones universe.
The original Hogwarts Legacy was developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games under the Portkey Games label. It launched between February and November 2023 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Set in the late 19th century, the game follows a fifth-year Hogwarts student who can manipulate ancient magic. Players attend classes, explore locations including Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest, learn spells and investigate a goblin rebellion led by Ranrok.
Warner Bros. has not yet announced when Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be released or provided further information about the project. For now, the shareholder letter serves as the company’s official confirmation that the sequel is part of its games pipeline.
