Fergusson shared his experience overseeing the development of Diablo IV. He stated that, for a game like Diablo IV, one has to build their team and their structure around a way they can do that sustainably, because the development team is always shipping in a way, He mentioned that the studio was just about to launch the base game (at the time), and has also been finishing up season one while also working on season two.

The Executive Producer for the Diablo franchise added that Blizzard is also working on expansion one and kicking things off for expansion two, all before the game had even been launched. He also mentioned that Diablo IV’s seasons will function on a quarterly basis, with the aim of affording casual players enough time to play through the content and earn rewards. He also clarified that all microtransactions will be entirely cosmetic, and there will be no ‘pay to win’ elements involved.

Diablo IV is an action role-playing game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, and is the fourth main installment in the Diablo series. While new elements like an open environment and pvp interactions have been added in this new installment, series staples like re-playable, randomly generated dungeons and loot-focused character building have remained. Fundamentally speaking, the gameplay in Diablo IV involves the gradual acquisition of stronger equipment through triumph over progressively challenging enemies. Character class skills can be altered by equipment and talent trees, giving them unique properties in combat against enemies.
