Microsoft and inXile Entertainment have confirmed that Clockwork Revolution is scheduled to launch in 2027 and will be released as an Xbox console exclusive.
The announcement was made during the Xbox Games Showcase, where Microsoft provided a new look at the ambitious first-person RPG and reaffirmed its platform plans. The game is currently set to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The platform strategy was later reinforced by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who confirmed that Clockwork Revolution and Gears of War: E-Day will remain exclusive to Xbox consoles.
“We want people to choose XBOX because of great games and experiences. That also means giving you something that was made for XBOX,” Sharma said.
She added, “Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be XBOX console exclusives!”
The confirmation makes Clockwork Revolution the second Xbox console exclusive announced during the showcase, following Microsoft’s earlier confirmation that Gears of War: E-Day will launch exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Developed by inXile Entertainment, Clockwork Revolution is a first-person action RPG set in the steampunk city of Avalon. The story centers on a society shaped by the actions of Lady Ironwood, a powerful figure who secretly manipulates history to maintain control over the city’s future.
Players will use a specialized time-travel device that allows them to journey between the past and present. By altering historical events, they can reshape the city’s districts, factions, and inhabitants, creating a world that reacts to their decisions over time.
Microsoft describes the game with the tagline, “Change the past. Control the future.” The story begins when a heist goes wrong, sending the protagonist back in time and revealing that their reality has been fundamentally altered by Lady Ironwood’s interference.
While an exact release date has not yet been announced, Clockwork Revolution is currently targeting a 2027 launch for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The title will also be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one.
