Bandai Namco has announced Mask of Idris, the first expansion for Code Vein II, with a free Version 2.0 update set to launch alongside the new content.
The expansion is included with the game’s Digital Deluxe and Ultimate Editions and introduces a new story set in an alternate history that spans time and space.
“A dark reflection of a world that could have been. CODE VEIN II Mask of Idris is coming soon,” Bandai Namco said. “An alternate history story that transcends time and space. Join your new partner, ‘Liv,’ and embark on another battle to save the world. Stay tuned for more updates!”
According to details published on the game’s official Japanese website, the expansion takes place in the “Abandoned World,” a realm formed from the emotions of worlds erased through historical alterations. At its centre is a massive spindle of emotion that continues to expand, drawing in emotions from across time and space while beginning to affect the real world.
Players will explore this new area as part of a standalone story featuring new characters, including Liv Voda and Lou MagMell.
Liv Voda, voiced by Aoi Yuki, is introduced as Valentin Voda’s half-sister and the original guardian of the Interstice of Time and Space. She abandoned her duties years earlier and now joins the protagonist as a new partner. Lou MagMell, voiced by Manaka Iwami, is a vampire girl encountered in the Abandoned World who is attempting to stop the realm from expanding.
Bandai Namco also confirmed several requirements for accessing the expansion. Players must have reached the second ending, “Moon of Harmony,” and progressed through Valentin’s Request questline far enough to complete “Exchange Views with Valentin: The Book of Magmel Island.”
Launching alongside the expansion is the free Version 2.0 update, which adds new post-game content allowing players to continue exploring the world with their companions after completing the main story. The update will also include additional improvements, with further details to be announced at a later date.
Bandai Namco has not yet announced a release date for the Mask of Idris expansion or the Version 2.0 update.
