Crimson Desert Update 1.18.00 Patch Notes Released

Crimson Desert update 1.18.00 is now available across most platforms, adding a new Quests category to the knowledge system alongside numerous bug fixes and improvements. The update also changes the resource required for research, improves the stable, and adds new options for Lock-on Camera Rotation.

The patch addresses a wide range of issues involving quests, combat, controls, graphics, localisation, NPCs, equipment, and progression. It also includes stability improvements and fixes for rendering problems affecting certain low-end graphics cards when using FSR Frame Generation or XeSS Frame Generation.

Content

  • A new Quests knowledge category has been added.
    • The category contains eight sub-categories: Main Quests, Faction Quests, Investigation Quests, Research Quests, Daily Life Quests, Guide, Archive Records, and Constellations.
    • Certain quest knowledge entries are granted retroactively when the corresponding quest has already been completed.
  • The resource required for research has been changed from silvers to camp funds.
  • Fixed an issue where high-value trade goods could be stacked and loaded in quantities of up to 100.
  • Fixed an issue where merchants did not appear at trading stalls in certain situations.
  • Changed the location of Baker’s Note from the quest Haverson’s Request.
  • The knowledge system now allows knowledge of certain animals to be gained by picking them up instead of killing them.
  • Improved the wording of certain boss knowledge entries.
  • The stable now allows horse gear to be equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where the pensive statue could revert to its unrepaired state while progressing through the Jijeong Temple quest to repair the statues.
  • Improved The Price of Knowledge quest from Chapter 4.
    • Broken pieces of the Mysterious Pot kiln at the Kilnden Workshop can now be reattached using Force Current.
  • Fixed an issue where the Defeat the enemies around the cabin submission did not appear near Cairn House.
  • Improved the knowledge system so that Mysterious Invitation knowledge can be obtained after completing Read the memory beneath Delesyia Castle.

Controls

  • Lock-on Camera Rotation now has three settings under Input in the game settings.
    • Manual allows camera rotation with the right stick or mouse while lock-on is enabled.
    • Semi-auto allows camera rotation with the right stick or mouse within a limited range.
    • Auto prevents camera rotation with the right stick or mouse while lock-on is enabled.
  • The previous enabled setting corresponds to Manual.
  • The previous disabled setting corresponds to Auto.
  • Fixed an issue where ranged weapons could not lock onto targets while riding a mount in certain situations.
  • Fixed an issue where the quick slot arrow could move unnaturally.

Combat and Action

  • Improved an issue where certain special mounts could become stuck when crossing low ledges.
  • Fixed an issue where players could not climb through windows despite there being no obstacles.
  • Fixed an issue where Sir Catfish could repeatedly perform a specific action in the same location under certain circumstances.

UI

  • Improved the map so areas revealed by ringing the bell can be visually distinguished from areas explored directly.

Graphics and Settings

  • Fixed unstable indoor lighting effects in certain situations.
  • Fixed camera jitter and shaking when controlling the camera under low-FPS conditions.
  • Fixed corrupted rendering on certain low-end graphics cards when FSR Frame Generation or XeSS Frame Generation was enabled, including the GTX 1060.

Localization

  • Fixed various localisation errors.
  • Improved localisation quality across all languages.

Other Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the game could occasionally return to the title screen when reviving at a revival point.
  • Fixed an issue where help pop-up voice-over could also play at increased speed when fast-forwarding through a cutscene.
  • Fixed an issue where workers would not function properly after loading a save file.
  • Fixed an issue where regular NPCs could be placed in blockaded areas.
  • Fixed abnormal character animations while riding mounts.
  • Fixed an issue where characters could occasionally enter the broken abyss loop in the Abyss Skyloop Bridge.
  • Fixed an issue where the time-lapse effect was not applied after using Focus Mode.
  • Fixed equipment clipping through characters in certain situations.
  • Fixed abnormal movement for Aeserion.
  • Fixed an issue that could block progression if players switched to Oongka before meeting Torstein during Time to Face Justice.
  • Fixed an issue where multiple oil canisters could be equipped in the same slot while operating the heater.
  • Fixed an issue where a shield could appear when Preview Only Selected was enabled in shops or dyehouses after equipping dual-wielded weapons.
  • Fixed an issue where Abyss Gear skill sound effects could play even when their volume was set to 0.

Crimson Desert was released worldwide on March 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, and macOS. The game is developed and published by Pearl Abyss, with PC and Mac versions available through Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Mac App Store.
