Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is the first live-action movie based on the popular Pokémon franchise which has mostly seen video games, toys or animated movies. It is based on the Detective Pikachu video game of the same name that was released for the Nintendo 3DS.

Detective Pikachu brings a talking Pikachu Pokémon on the big screen. The voice behind Pikachu is no other than Ryan Reynolds and the movie seems to be full of a star-studded cast. The main lead is Justice Smith who has previously worked in blockbusters like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Warner Bros. Entertainment released the first trailer of Detective Pikachu last year and it ended up getting a lot of attention. The movie appears to have nailed the aspect of Pokémon living among humans. Pokémon is short for Pocket Monsters and they roam this world. They are used in fights and have their own tournaments organized around it.
The second trailer for Detective Pikachu is quite short compared to the first one. It does reveal a new type of Pokémon Lickitung, who looks horrific. The trailer itself attempts to play out the humor and largely succeeds thanks to how cute Pikachu looks in the movie.

Detective Pikachu is set to drop in theatres on May 10, 2019. It will star Justice Smith, Ryan Reynolds as the voice Pikachu, Kathryn Newton, and Ken Watanabe.
