Elden Ring Director Hints At The Possibility Of A Sequel

The director of Bandai Namco Entertainment and From Software’s open world action role-playing game, Elden Ring, has hinted at the possibility of a sequel.

In the recently published Future Press Guide for Elden Ring, titled Books of Knowledge, Volume II, director Hidetaka Miyazaki offered some hints regarding the reason behind the game’s Roundtable Hold’s existence.

Elden ring sequel

Miyazaki stated that, while the Elden Ring lore does answer this question, it’s something that the development team decided not to touch upon in this particular game, suggesting that there may be a sequel or spinoff of some sort in the future. Therefore, he said that he won’t be revealing it yet. However, he added that it’s safe to say that the Two Fingers play a key role.

Previously, in its financial forecast for the Fiscal year ending March, 31, 2024, From Software parent Kadokawa shared plans to extend the lifespan of the Elden Ring IP in order to maximize profits. The company noted in its report that it expected a reactionary decline in sales and profit in the Fiscal Year ending in March, 31, 2024 due to the profit involved in the shipment of Elden Ring to overseas in the Fiscal Year that ended on March 31, 2023. As such, the company is now developing DLC that will contribute to the enhancement of the Elden Ring franchise. It is, therefore, pursuing the maximization of profit by prolonging the life of its successful IP. This suggests that there may be more expansions or sequels planned after the release of the first expansion, titled Shadow of the Erdtree.
