The system requirements announcement comes during a strong period for the Elden Ring franchise. FromSoftware recently revealed the game has shipped over 30 million copies worldwide—an impressive feat since its February 2022 launch. After hitting 20 million copies by February 2023, Elden Ring’s sales stayed strong, especially with the 2024 Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

Now, FromSoftware is expanding the Elden Ring universe with Nightreign, which has already gone through multiple network tests ahead of its May launch. This is a new direction for the studio, best known for single-player experiences like Bloodborne and SekiroNightreign lets them experiment with fresh gameplay while building on an existing world.

The studio isn’t stopping there—they’re also working on The Duskbloods, a completely new game for the Nintendo Switch 2. Meanwhile, the original Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion are still going strong on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, drawing in both newcomers and veterans.
